Muhammed Patel Steps Down From ISOC: What They Must Do Next

Since Human Rights Activist Maryam Namazie was the target of disruption and intimidation at Goldsmiths University at the hands of Islamist bullies – I’ve been following new developments with great interest.

The latest in this saga sees Muhammed Patel step down as President of the Islamic Society at Goldsmiths according to a statement from ISOC. I’ve documented his questionable associations here previously.

What prompted this step down? It came as a surprise to absolutely no-one when homophobic tweets said to belong to Mr Patel were uncovered. The Twitter account in question has now been deleted, but the internet never forgets:

The LGBT and Feminist societies who jumped to offer ISOC their solidarity have been strangely silent on these findings.

As is clear from this latest ISOC statement, they are still portraying themselves as the victims in this sorry debacle. Unfortunately for them, video of the event has gone viral. Hundreds of thousands of people have now witnessed the appalling way in which their members behaved. This has also been covered on mainstream news platforms and by prominent free speech organisations.

I’m not sure the ISOC ‘brothers’ quite understand what is happening here. They have thrown the reputation of Goldsmiths university into question on a national, possibly international scale. The heads a Goldsmiths will not be fond of that and will be forced to act. In short, ISOC brothers are not fighting for the reputation of their society, but for their future in higher education. I have two suggestions for action which are well overdue:

1. They should issue an unconditional apology to Maryam Namazie for disrupting her talk and creating an intimidating environment for her and the other students. They should also confirm that this will never happen again.

2. They should confirm that they understand and support free speech – which includes the right to draw cartoons of Muhammad. Or criticise Islamic doctrine and the behaviour of some of its adherents.

These things are unlikely to happen of course, because they are the right thing to do and ISOC have failed to demonstrate a capacity for it thus far. Given their irredeemable character and the embarrassment they have brought their University, I don’t imagine the future looks good for them.

How Does The Metropolitan Police Classify An ‘Islamophobic’ Hate Crime?

In the wake of any mass Islamist terror attack on mostly non-Muslims, it doesn’t take long before the ‘anti-Muslim backlash’ narrative takes centre stage, namely that good regular Muslims are under siege, or being ‘lynched’ en masse at the hands of non-Muslims.

Now, there is no doubt that Muslims do face anti-Muslim bigotry in the U.K. and one instance of it is one too many. It’s also true that these instances increase after Islamist terror atrocities. I simply wonder whether they are as significant as the media coverage would have you believe, and what the criteria is for classifying something as ‘Islamophobic’.

The BBC reported  that ‘Anti-Islam hate crimes triple in London after Paris attacks’ earlier this week. I’ve been forever suspicious of accepting statistics of this kind at face value since the organisation Tell Mama were found to be inflating their figures by equating what amounted to online insults to ‘violent attacks’. Some of which didn’t even originate from Britain.

Video Of ISOC Islamists Disrupting & Intimidating At University Talk

I recently wrote about Goldsmiths Islamic Society’s (ISOC) attempts to have human rights campaigner Maryam Namazie disinvited from a speaking event organised by The Atheist, Secularist and Humanist Society (ASH). When they didn’t get their way, members of ISOC simply turned up to the talk and initiated a campaign of disruption and intimidation instead. Despite the group comprising of thuggish, male Islamists attempting to silence and intimidate a female minority, The Goldsmiths Feminist Society, in a display of utter moral confusion took the decision to release a statement in solidarity with ISOC. Goldsmiths Islamic And Feminist Societies Are A Disgrace

A few days ago I wrote about Goldsmiths Islamic Society’s (ISOC) attempts to have Maryam Namazie disinvited from a talk arranged by the Atheist, Secularist and Humanist Society (ASH). The ‘reasons’ put forward by ISOC were the usual collection of smears and hyperbole bolstered by co-opting the language of certain regressive principles – namely bleating that their ‘safe space’ had been violated.

Despite all their bluster on social media, no official complaint was received from the student union and Maryam Namazie’s talk went ahead as planned. I previously accused ISOC of attempting to enforce Islamic blasphemy laws on campus, rather than having sincere concerns about ‘safe spaces’, and this latest bout of behaviour seems to confirm this beyond doubt.

Talk Of Human Rights Violates An Islamic ‘Safe Space’

Back in September, I wrote about Warwick University Student Union’s decision to disinvite Maryam Namazie from a speaking engagement. Outrage ensued on social media, not to mention a few high profile personalities and news outlets condemning the decision. Happily it was reversed amid public pressure and Maryam Namazie finally got the opportunity to speak.

Maryam Namazie is also due to speak at Goldsmiths University this very evening, which inspired this public objection from the Goldsmiths Islamic Society on their Facebook Page:

Paris Terror Ringleader Smoked & Drank Alcohol. So?

Christmas has come early for the regressive left. Reports have landed to suggest Paris terror Ringleader Abdelhamid Abaaoud was partial to the odd tipple and spliff – because an eyewitness said she was ‘99% sure’ she saw him ‘smoking and drinking’. This proves he was not a Muslim apparently, or at the least, not a sincere one. This is followed by reports that one of the suicide bombers owned a bar, despite alcohol being forbidden in Islam. Depending on your interpretation of course.

This kind of thing is not new. 9/11 ringleader Mohamed Atta and his crew were said to have visited a strip club before they embarked on their suicide mission. The same amateur theologians jumped on this detail to spin their apologist yarn too. As though all that ‘Allahu Akbarring’ was just a bit of a laugh.

Of course, everyone cherry picks their religion. That is actually a good thing. This is why Christians by and large no longer burn witches or admonish those who eat shellfish. Yet would the mainstream dare to claim people refraining from these acts are not truly Christians? Of course not.

It’s also wickedly amusing that those looking to defend Islam point to booze and drugs, rather than the indiscriminate slaughter of innocents as their strongest ‘get out of Islam free card’.

It seems no matter how many times Islamists tell us exactly why they are doing what they are doing, followed by a demonstration of their sincerity, it won’t be enough to shake these people out of their bubble. If you want to make the issue of extremism not only easy, but rewarding on yourself: Just point your finger at anything and everything other than the core, motivating ideology. You’ll render yourself utterly redundant on the topic, but you won’t lose any friends. And the cheap seats will lap it up.
