My 8 year old son came home from school clearly energised and exited from having seen it. My 6 year old at a different school did not get to see it and was rather disappointed. I don’t know why he didn’t, but living in the Czech republic, reportedly one of the most athiest countries around, I’m petty sure it wouldn’t have been for any ridiculous religious reasons. Sad for him all the same.

WTF? All the children in what I gather is a government school were banned from seeing an eclipse because some Hindus consider that to be a bad thing. It’s just appalling. Nobody should put up with this. What is wrong with people in Britain? I remember Christianity being shoved down my Jewish atheist throat here in Canada when I was a kid in school. I neither liked nor approved of it but they were at least the flippin majority! This story is like something that FOXNews would make up. But not letting kids see an eclipse because some other kids parents might or even if they do have this creepy superstition about it is just so so far over the line. Not believing crazy crap about eclipses is such a cliché of ancient times superstition. If there were parents who didn’t want their kids to watch the eclipse, does it still make you impure if you watch it on television? then they should have kept them home. It’s not like nobody knew when the eclipse was going to happen.
