Acknowledging the genocide is very taboo if not illegal in Turkey, since it “defames” their people. Orhan Pamuk was sued over some remarks on it in 2005 and fled the country due to the stirred hostility. So Cenk’s sweeping the matter under the rug *could* be out of safety concerns (for himself or family) rather than simple sleaziness.

To be clear, I’m not a fan of the guy myself (your description of him as a salesman was spot on) so it’s weird to be defending him. I just think that when it comes to acknowledging the Armenian genocide, pressure should be placed on the Turkish government rather than on individuals like Cenk.
