Another Sam Harris – The Moral Landscape
http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Moral-Landscape-Sam-Harris/dp/0552776386/
Just bought:
Free Will – Sam Harris
Everyday is an Atheist Holiday! – Penn Jillette
Satanic Verses – Salmon Rushdie
A Universe from Nothing: Why There is Something rather than Nothing – Lawrence Krauss Hitch-22 – Chrisopher Hitchens
. And on a lighter note: The Last Testament – God, David Javerbaum 🙂
I read the Satanic Verses and was utterly lost, simply beyond my depth. I got the major points but wow I couldnt follow more of the subtle nuances.
That’s already in there under The Science category. Great book though! Thank you
Ah, missed the categories. Good list btw.
How about the 4th horseman, Daniel Dennett – Breaking the Spell: Religion as a Natural Phenomenon
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Breaking-Spell-Religion-Natural-Phenomenon/dp/0141017775
Why Evolution Is True – Jerry Coyne
Even better than Richard Dawkins’ books on the matter

(Oops, that wasn’t supposed to be a reply to someone else’s post)
Both “The Masks of God” and “The Power of Myth” are must reads.
Sorry, both of those titles are by Joseph Campbell.
I highly recommend “Your Inner Fish” by Neil Shubin.
Will educate on the history of Judaism… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aYaV72MmWo
Very interesting documentary.
This is a real joy (great Hitch intro an added bonus):

The good man Jesus and the scoundrel Christ by Philip Pullman is a very good read for young and old.
I’d recommend:
Dan Dennett, Freedom Evolves
Dawkins x 2, Climbing Mount Improbable & The Extended Phenotype
Neil Gaiman, American Gods (yeah, yeah it’s fiction I know!)
An older book that is simply amazing is “The Lucifer Principle” by Howard Bloom. About 15 years old, but fantastic non the less.
For doubters of evolution, I can highly recommend the BBC series “David Attenborough’s First Life” about the first life forms for which we have evidence:

Found these books on Amazon – quite funny and thorough “retelling” of the Bible.
It looks like he’s gotten up to the Book of Ruth, but I’m only on Deuteronomy:

I highly recommend The God Who Wasn’t There. An informative and enjoyable documentary, easily to relate to especially for those of us that were schooled by evangelical Christians in our youth. Excellent soundtrack too!
