Ed Husain is an author who co-founded the counter-extremist think tank Quilliam with Maajid Nawaz. Ed has been lauded for ditching the politicized Islamic ideology of his formative years. He details this journey in his book \u2018The Islamist\u2019<\/a>. Needless to say, he\u2019s done a great amount of work challenging the Islamist narrative and he is what many would consider to be a \u2018progressive Muslim\u2019.<\/p>\n

This makes his tweeted comments about Evolution all the more disappointing:<\/p>\n

He didn\u2019t take kindly to some gentle mockery and criticism from Nicky Campbell and Adam Rutherford either. Keep in mind that Dr Adam Rutherford is an actual scientist\u2026<\/p>\n

I wonder if Ed will be kind enough to share these \u2018facts\u2019 with the rest of us? Doubtful.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the usual ignorance concerning common ancestry and the scientific definition of the word \u2018theory\u2019 on show here. Perhaps Ed studied at St Andrews<\/a>?<\/p>\n

It just goes to show that it doesn\u2019t matter how progressive someone is in their monotheism, if they\u2019re running faith-based ideology on their brain, they will say something deeply silly about scientific fact sooner or later.<\/p>\n

Just as progressive attitudes should be promoted, religiously inspired ignorance should be challenged too. That\u2019s two opposable thumbs down from me, Ed.<\/p>\n
